Kitakyushu (Japanese: 北九州市, Hepburn: Kitakyūshū-shi) is a city located in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. As of June 1, 2019, Kitakyushu has an estimated population of 940,978, making it the second-largest city in both Fukuoka Prefecture and the island of Kyushu after the city of Fukuoka. It is one of Japan's 20 designated cities, one of three on Kyushu, and is divided into seven wards. Kitakyushu was formed in 1963 from a merger of municipalities centered on the historic city of Kokura, and its name literally means "North Kyushu City" in Japanese. It is located at the northernmost point of Kyushu on the Kanmon Straits, separating the island from Honshu, across from the city of Shimonoseki. Kitakyushu and Shimonoseki are connected by numerous transport links including the Kanmon Bridge and the Kanmon Tunnels. Kitakyushu's Urban Employment Area forms part of the Fukuoka-Kitakyushu Greater Metropolitan Region, which, with a population of 5,738,977 (2005-2006), is the largest metropolitan area in Japan west of the Keihanshin region.

2．Fukuoka
Fukuoka (Japanese: 福岡市, Hepburn: Fukuoka-shi, pronounced [ɸɯ̥kɯoka̠ꜜɕi]) is the sixth-largest city in Japan, the second-largest port city after Yokohama, and the capital city of Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. The city is built along the shores of Hakata Bay, and has been a center of international commerce since ancient times. The area has long been considered the gateway to the country, as it is the nearest point among Japan's main islands to the Asian mainland. Although humans occupied the area since the Jomon period, some of the earliest settlers of the Yayoi period arrived in the Fukuoka area. The city rose to prominence during the Yamato period. Because of the cross-cultural exposure, and the relatively great distance from the social and political centers of Kyoto, Osaka, and later, Edo (Tokyo), Fukuoka gained a distinctive local culture and dialect that has persisted to the present. Fukuoka is the most populous city on Kyūshū island, followed by Kitakyushu. It is the largest city and metropolitan area west of Keihanshin. The city was designated by government ordinance on April 1, 1972. Greater Fukuoka, with a population of 2.5 million people (2005 census), is part of the heavily industrialized Fukuoka–Kitakyushu zone. As of 2015, Fukuoka is Japan's sixth largest city, having passed the population of Kobe. In July 2011, Fukuoka surpassed the population of Kyoto. Since the founding of Kyoto in 794, this marks the first time that a city west of the Kansai region has a larger population than Kyoto.

Kurume (久留米市, Kurume-shi) is a city in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. As of June 1, 2019, the city has an estimated population of 303,579 and a population density of 1,320 persons per km². The total area is 229.96 km². On February 5, 2005, the town of Kitano (from Mii District), the towns of Jōjima and Mizuma (both from Mizuma District), and the town of Tanushimaru (from Ukiha District) were merged into Kurume.

Nōgata (直方市, Nōgata-shi) is a city located in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, on the island of Kyushu in southern Japan. Located near Kitakyūshū and Iizuka, Nōgata is in the center of the Chikuhō region of Fukuoka. The city was founded on January 1, 1931. 7．Tagawa, Fukuoka
Tagawa (田川市, Tagawa-shi) is a city located in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. The city was founded on November 3, 1943. As of October 1, 2018, the city has an estimated population of 48,241, with 24,537 households. Its total area is 54.52 km².Tagawa was historically a coal mining city, and is easily recognizable by its two tall chimneys located near Tagawa-Ita (田川伊田駅). Currently active industries in Tagawa include limestone and cement production. Tirol (チロル) miniature chocolates are manufactured in Tagawa. 8．Yanagawa, Fukuoka
Yanagawa (柳川市, Yanagawa-shi) is a city located in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. As of April 30, 2011, the city has an estimated population of 71,848, with 24,507 households and a population density of 934.55 persons per km². The total area is 76.88 km².On March 21, 2005 the towns of Yamato and Mitsuhashi (both from Yamato District) were merged into Yanagawa. Yanagawa is popular with Japanese tourists because of its 470 km of wide canals. Yanagawa riverboats, called "donkobune", are used to take tourists around the city. In 1987 a video documentary was created by Studio Ghibli about these canals and their restoration. The Story of Yanagawa's Canals (柳川掘割物語, Yanagawa horiwari monogatari) is widely available and includes English subtitles. Yanagawa was originally constructed in the mid-16th century by the Kamachi clan. Before then, it had been a traditional farming village, with the canals used for irrigation; Tanaka Yoshimasa (Japanese: 田中吉政; 1548 – 1609) ordered the canals to be maintained and built a castle in Yanagawa, which is still maintained today. The modern city was founded on April 1, 1952. Yanagawa is the birthplace of Kitahara Hakushu, a Meiji era poet and writer of children's songs. An annual three-day festival is held every November in Yanagawa complete with poetry readings, fireworks, music, and a great number of evening boat rides. During this festival, most activities begin from Shimohyaku Town and center at the Hiyoshi Shinto Shrine. In addition, Hakushu's birth house is located in Yanagawa and open to the public for tours. The Yanagawa Municipal Folk Museum is mainly dedicated to preservation of Hakushu-sensei's works and memorabilia. During the months of March and April, Yanagawa also plays host to a number of festivals, most notably Hinamatsuri or Girls' Festival on March 3. A great number of finely crafted Heian era styled dolls are placed on display in a number of private homes, shops, and businesses throughout the city. During this time, a number of local citizens actually open up their homes to the public, allowing people to come and see their elaborate decorations and displays.

9．Yama
Yama (Devanagari: यम) or Yamarāja (यमराज), is a deity of death, dharma, the south direction, and the underworld who predominantly features in Hindu and Buddhist religion, belonging to an early stratum of Rigvedic Hindu deities. In Sanskrit, his name can be interpreted to mean "twin". He is also an important deity worshipped by the Kalasha and formerly by the Nuristani peoples, indicating his prominence in ancient Hinduism.In Hinduism, Yama is the son of sun-god Surya and Sanjana, the daughter of Vishvakarma. 16．Chikushino, Fukuoka
Chikushino (筑紫野市, Chikushino-shi) is a city in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. Bordering Dazaifu, Onojo, Nakagawa, Saga Prefecture, Ogori, Yasu, and Chikuho, Fukuoka, Chikushino is essentially a southern suburb of Fukuoka City. It was founded on April 1, 1972. As of September 30, 2016, the city had an estimated population of 103,076 and a population density of 1,174.92 persons per km². The total area is 87.73 km². The Tenjin Ōmuta Line runs through Chikushino at Nishitetsu Futsukaichi Station, Murasaki Station (opened 2010), Asakuragaidō Station, Sakuradai Station and Chikushi. 17．Kasuga, Fukuoka
Kasuga (春日市, Kasuga-shi) is a city located in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. As of August 31, 2016, the city has an estimated population of 112,894 and a population density of 7,978.37 persons per km². The total area is 14.15 km². The city was founded on April 1, 1972. It is directly south of Fukuoka City, and west of Onojo. It also has a border with Nakagawa. Kasuga station is on the JR Kagoshima Main Line, while Kasugabaru Station is on the Nishitetsu Tenjin Ōmuta Line. The Hakata-Minami Line also terminates here. The Japan Air Self-Defense Force has its western regional headquarters here, namely the Kasuga Air Base. There is a Seiyu mall, and several large parks. Kasuga Park (春日公園) has a baseball stadium, a football stadium, tennis courts, and a children's playground with a large jungle gym. Shirozu Park (白水大池公園) has a children's adventure playground and a large lake. There are also several reservoirs in the area. Also, there are a lot of cherry blossoms during the spring season. There are 12 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, 1 high school, and 2 universities/community colleges in Kasuga. Kasuga is well known for having many temples and traditional events such as Kasuga Andon Festival.

18．Ōnojō
Ōnojō (大野城市, Ōnojō-shi) is an area located in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. Its name is made up of the kanji for 'big', 'field', and 'castle'. It is mostly a southern suburb of the city of Fukuoka, and has a border to the northwest with the Hakata-ku area of the city. It also shares borders with Dazaifu and Kasuga, Umi, Chikushino, Nakagawa and Shime. The border with Umi is marked by the summit of Otoganayama at 268 metres above sea level, a wide expanse of deciduous and bamboo forest, uninhabited except by the occasional snake. The Mikasa River flows through Ōnojō on its way to Hakata bay, with some of its tributaries such as Cow Neck River originating in the mountains in the south. Ducks, turtles, koi, egrets, herons and Japanese wagtails can be seen in or around the river, depending on the season. As of September 30, 2016, the city has an estimated population of 99,965 and a population density of 3,717.55 persons per km2. The total area is 26.89 km2. The city was founded on April 1, 1972. The city flower is the Chinese bellflower, known in Japanese as kikyō. JR Kyushu has a railway station named Ōnojō, five stops south of Hakata Station on the Kagoshima Main Line. JR Mizuki Station is on the south-eastern edge of Onojo. The Nishitetsu Tenjin Ōmuta Line also has two stations within Onojo. There are also Nishitetsu buses and local municipal buses. There is a Daimonji festival in September, near the Madokapia culture centre, library and city office. It has areas devoted to the mizu shobai. It also has many Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples. At the beginning of the 21st century the area has seen continued real estate development partly due to good infrastructure, unlike more rural parts of the prefecture. The retailers Seiyu Group and Aeon have stores in the area, as do several conbini chains. However, in summer 2009 very heavy rain led to a mudslide, killing two people on the Kyushu Expressway. Musician Aska is from Ōnojō, as is baseball player Yuichi Honda. The city has a comprehensive recycling policy, but deforestation was continuing in 2011. Central Onojo is on the flight path to Fukuoka airport, so noise pollution can be a problem. It is part of the fifth congressional district of Fukuoka Prefecture. The city has created several walking routes.

Dazaifu (太宰府市, Dazaifu-shi) is a city located in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, part of the greater Fukuoka metropolitan area. Nearby cities include Ōnojō and Chikushino. Although mostly mountainous, it does have arable land used for paddy fields and market gardening. As of October 2018, the city has an estimated population of 72,231 with 29,355 households and a population density of 2,440 persons per km². The total area is 29.58 km². 24．Miyawaka
Miyawaka (宮若市, Miyawaka-shi) is a city located in Fukuoka, Japan. As of April 1, 2017, the city had a population of 27,544 and a population density of 200 persons per km2. The total area is 139.99 km2. The modern city of Miyawaka was established in February 11, 2006, from the merger of the towns of Miyata and Wakamiya (both from Kurate District). The new city took its name from portions of the two older town names from which it was formed, Miyata, Wakamiya, Since February 1991, Toyota Motor Kyushu has been based in Miyawaka, building both Toyota and Lexus models.A firefly festival is held at Nishikura no Oka Sports Park. Umi (宇美町, Umi-machi) is a town located in Kasuya District, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan.As of 2016, the town has an estimated population of 37,663 and a density of 1,200 persons per km². The total area is 30.22 km². The town has a river, the Umigawa, flowing through it, a large Hachiman shrine and a small Protestant church. It also has some ancient burial mounds (kofun). It is reputedly the birthplace of Emperor Ōjin, an early Japanese emperor.A railway was built in 1919 to facilitate the removal of coal, but this local industry ended in 1963. The railway line was closed in 1985 and has been made into a pleasant semi-rural walkway. Umi still has another JR line, the Kashii Line. Ban-dai sake is also made in Umi.

Sasaguri (篠栗町, Sasaguri-machi) is a town in Kasuya District, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. As of 2016, the town has an estimated population of 31,213 and a population density of 800 persons per km2. The total area is 38.90 km2. The town has three railway stations, Sasaguri, Chikuzen-Yamate, and Kido-Nanzōin-mae, all operated by JR Kyushu on the Sasaguri Line linking it to Hakata Station in Fukuoka. The center of Sasaguri is directly south of Narufuchi Dam. The town is known for its 41 metres (135 ft) reclining Buddha statue at Nanzo-in, considered one of the largest bronze statues in the world. Nanzo-in is the initial temple on the 88-temple Sasaguri pilgrimage route. The town jointly manages the 17-hectare Sasaguri Kyudai Forest with Kyushu University.

Keisen (桂川町, Keisen-machi) is a town located in Kaho District, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. As of April 30, 2017, the town has an estimated population of 13,750 and a density of 690 persons per km². Keisen was home to Fukuoka POW Camp in 1944 during World War II.There are many Kofun in Keisen; Ōzuka Kofun, near Keisen Station, is designated as a site of special historic interest (one of only two of its kind in Japan), and has its own museum. Ozuka was built in the 6th century AD as a decorated mound tomb. It was rediscovered in 1934, and the artifacts found inside are now at Kyoto National Museum. It was closed to the public for preservation in 1967, but is now open twice a year. The museum has a full size reconstruction of the tomb with information in Japanese and English. Admittance is 310 yen for adults, as of 2009. Its archeological importance is perhaps comparable with that of Sutton Hoo. In July 2010 a landslide after heavy rain destroyed a house.
